2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S

Car #18 is pretty much the perfect daily-driveable, borderline exotic car I’ve had to date. The 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Comfortable, fast as hell, reliable, sounds great, handles amazingly well with plenty feedback to boot, and easy to drive. A little less raw than the 996/997 Porsches, but that’s the price you pay for comfort and refinement.

Unlike my 2015 Stingray, this 911 flew around Thunderhill without breaking a sweat. At this point I had been to Thunderhill several times and had a pretty good feel for the track – and it was incredibly easy to navigate with this 991S. Rock solid stability, power all around, and amazing fade-free brakes. The only thing I would change in this car is that I would have opted for the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) option; it sounds fantastic as is, but is just a hair on the quiet side. Oh, and I wouldn’t have gotten it in black, because watching it get dusty with pollen 2 minutes after you finish waxing it was infuriating.

I really don’t have much more to say about this car; it was everything I could ask for. The only reason I sold it is because at this point I was taking the shuttle to work daily, and it got driven maybe once every 1.5 weeks. A waste of a car and a waste of the $$$ I had in it.

But this car cemented my belief that 911’s are the best daily exotic around. The only nitpick I have is that the wheels look a little too large for the body – 19″ over 20″ would’ve been a better fit, imo. This car is also a bit special to me as it was the car I moved into our new condo in Redwood Shores with.
